Cookie and Local Storage Policy

This policy explains how MethodMath uses cookies, local storage, session storage, and similar browser technologies.

Some storage is essential for the service to work. Optional analytics storage is used only after you allow analytics.

1. What Browser Storage Does

Browser storage helps MethodMath remember who you are, keep your account secure, preserve drafts, reduce repeated prompts, improve navigation, and measure whether the platform works well.

Clearing browser storage may sign you out, remove drafts, reset preferences, or make certain prompts appear again.

2. Essential Storage

MethodMath may use essential storage for:

• Authentication state and API access
• CSRF, security, and session protection
• Rate-limit cooldowns that prevent repeated requests after a 429 response
• Basic routing, error recovery, and PWA behavior
• Cookie consent state

Essential storage is needed for security, stability, or requested functionality.

3. Functional Storage

Functional storage may remember:

• Light, dark, or system theme preference
• Draft questions, answers, and editing state
• Feed state, seen questions, dismissed prompts, and local personalization hints
• PWA install-prompt state
• Search or interface preferences where supported

These values improve usability and reduce unnecessary backend requests.

4. Optional Analytics Storage

Optional analytics runs only after you choose Allow analytics.

When allowed, MethodMath may use a pseudonymous visitor identifier and session information to understand page views, navigation patterns, errors, referrers, device category, approximate region, and visit duration.

Google Analytics may also set analytics cookies or process analytics information under Google's policies. MethodMath disables advertising personalization in its Google tag configuration.

5. Declining Analytics

If you decline analytics, MethodMath will not intentionally load Google Analytics for your visit. Core features such as reading questions, asking questions, logging in, answering, voting, and search do not require optional analytics.

6. Changing Your Choice

You can change your analytics choice through Cookie preferences in the footer. You can also clear cookies and local storage through your browser settings.

7. Third-Party Storage

Third-party services may use their own storage when enabled or used, including Google sign-in, Google Analytics after consent, hosting infrastructure, or real-time notification services.
